Harboring Resentments
We addicts often hold onto resentments. I once heard that harboring resentments is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. In A.A. they say resentments are the number one offender, meaning they are the leading cause of use or relapse among addicts and alcoholics.
Expectations
However, what happens when things and/or people don’t meet our expectations? How do we feel then? I know that I struggle with expectations. When things don’t go my way, I take things personally. I get angry, upset, and hurt when I feel let down and depressed.
