Preventing Drug Relapse
Relapse prevention is probably one of the most important aspects of recovery. The main goal of being in recovery is to stay sober and avoid a relapse. But that is not to say it's a very real possibility and all it takes is one bad day. If I’m not equipped with the proper tools, that one bad day could take me out just like that.
Practicing Integrity
When I was using drugs, I threw out almost all of my morals and values. Therefore, in recovery I really pride myself in having integrity; doing what’s right no matter the situation. This has proven to help me grow back into my true self and to help me keep ahold of the values that are so important to me.
Connection in Recovery
Knowing I have people I can count on to show up for me in times of need has put my mind at ease. Reaching out when I'm in a bad place or want to use has started to lift the obsession for me, and a new found connection with God helps me to remain grounded and grateful.
