Integrity- Stand for Something
To me, integrity is a universal moral code of ethics. Integrity is honesty and maintaining the ability to hold onto what is true and right. This is often a difficult task given all the deceit and temptation the world has to offer. For those of us new in recovery, the concept of having integrity is about as foreign as learning a new language. While we are in the act of our addictions, we lose control of all moral and rational behavior. We must relearn to live a life contrary to the behaviors we became accustomed to. Integrity is something that all people struggle with. I have noticed that in many different aspects, people are always looking for the easy way out of things, and as a result, lose themselves in the process. I have found at times that although my intentions and beliefs may be true, my actions do not always coincide with how I feel, and that can be frustrating. I need to be held accountable if I am to act with integrity. Having integrity takes courage, strength, commitment, determination, and faith. Those who act with integrity will reap all of life’s blessings through a spiritual fullness. Those who act with integrity will never know a day of shame or guilt. Remember to always be impeccable with your word and if you do not stand for something, you will fall for nothing.
