The Moment of Truth

Truth comes in many different forms. I like to believe that I always tell the truth, but that is not always the case. The truth is a fact or belief that is accepted as true. The only truth I know to be 100 percent factual is the word of God. My whole life I have struggled with truth; truth of who I was; the truth of what I’d done and how I could stretch the truth to make myself sound or feel better. In addition, the only truth that was real was my addiction to drugs. I rarely would speak the truth. I sometimes thought I was clever enough to fool others, or even God at times, but I quickly forgot the consequences of my attempt to be deceiving.

Coming to South Orange County Detox and Treatment, I have faced the cold hard truth of who I had become, and whether I liked it or not, it was time to face it. I’ve since been learning to come to sense with my truth and I am implementing tools to speak the whole truth and nothing but the truth however awkward or painful it may be. By doing this though, it is helping me heal my codependency, my conflicts, and my communication skills.

2 Timothy 2:15 says “ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handing the word of truth”.

Speaking the truth will only help myself and others in the long run. It will help me center myself as a person of authenticity and connection, if I can give my character defects to God and simply tell the truth whole heartedly. This will show my growth and show others that I care enough to tell them how it is. Truth will only help fortify my recovery program and help me be a successful man of God.
